The Bottom Line. The Acer Nitro V 15 won't top any charts, but it's a fine value in a budget gaming laptop, driving more-than-60fps performance ...
Nitro laptops of the past tended toward gamer-centric styling and color schemes, with a lot of black and red, but the line has gradually developed a more staid look. That is again the case for this Nitro 15 system and, particularly as a value and general-use play, the relatively plain styling fits just fine. This laptop can blend in anywhere, with just a dash of style on the lid via some tame but visually appealing gray and blue lines. The build quality is acceptable for a budget gaming laptop ; I wouldn’t be thrilled to have the same chassis as our model if I had a particularly expensive configuration, but at this price, it’s serviceable. The smooth-finish plastic lid doesn’t feel premium, and you'll feel some flex around the keyboard deck if you press it, but nothing detracting stands out in normal use. The machine measures 1.06 by 14.3 by 9.4 inches (HWD) and weighs 4.66 pounds—portable enough for an affordable 15-inch gamer. Acer's touchpad is completely average, but the keyboard is probably the most satisfying part of the build. The keys have satisfying travel, some bounce, and clean (white only) backlighting—plus you'll find a number pad squeezed into the 15-inch chassis. The laptop's connectivity options are broad, too: You'll find two USB Type-A ports, a USB Type-C port, an HDMI connection, and even an Ethernet jack on the left side. Another USB-A port and a headphone jack sit on the right. Inside that 14-inch frame is a 15-inch display on the diagonal, with specs that won’t blow you away, but they fit the bill for the intended audience. The panel features a standard full HD (1,920 by 1,080) resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate , meeting the minimum expectation for a gaming machine in 2024. The GPU is the chief differentiator in making the best use of this screen, and this model is well equipped to do so compared with some of Acer's less expensive configurations.
